Flights

 

The Sakura Senior Club is composed of men and women (55+) of all abilities.  Golf is an activity where players of all abilities can play together and have a great time and that is especially true in our Weekly and Scramble Tournaments.  However, since we currently have 65 members, we have created flights where members of similar ability can compete against each other more fairly, especially for the Club Championship. We have four Flights - 3 Men and 1 Ladies; they are:

 

Ladies Flight:  Currently we have only 9 members; we would love to have more.  All of our Ladies compete in this Flight.

 

Championship Flight:  Currently composed of 21 Men with low handicap index -approximately 22 to single digits.

 

First Flight:  Currently composed of 20 Men with medium to high handicap index and under the age of 80.

 

Second Flight:  Currently composed of 15 Men over the age of 80 (oldest is 96!) or 75 years old with a high handicap index.

 

Flight assignments are determined by a 5 person Handicap Committee,  Besides one’s handicap index, factors such as age, recent illness or surgery, or any other unusual circumstances, are considered in flight assignments.

 

Flight assignments are determined in February, before the start of the tournament season and can be adjusted anytime by the Handicap Committee.
